Description:

U.S. Smoke & Fire -- SD60® Fixed Fabric Draft Curtain -- Utilized in warehouses for smoke zoning and separation and for aircraft hangars as part of NFPA 409 compliance. The system can be mechanically fastened in place.

Commonly used in industrial environments with high ceilings like airplane hangars, warehouses, and more, the SD60® fixed fabric smoke and draft curtain The curtain is composed of woven glass fiber fire-rated fabric material and is fixed to the roof deck or other ceiling structure to create a seal and provide smoke draft control in large open spaces.

SD60® Fixed Fabric Draft Curtain is utilized to create smoke and fire zones per NFPA 409 for large open spaces. Draft curtains bring the following benefits:

  • Reduce sprinkler systems requirements
  • Meet the strictest NFPA draft curtain requirements in place

The mounting method of the fixed fabric is metal screws installed every 12-inches along the X-axis. The fabric is provided in 10-foot to 20-foot length for ease of handling. The fabric must overlap by 2-inches to have continuity. The bottom of the fabric will have an inch sewn pocket to insert aircraft cable of typically -inch that will be tied off on each end. USSF provides the fabric only. The metal screws and aircraft cable would be provided by others.

Pipe penetrations are delt with by cutting a keyhole in the textile and slipping the pipe through the keyhole. Then, the installer would sew the bottom of the keyhole with stainless steel fabric to create the enclosure again.

  • Fabric can be fastened directly to the top or bottom beam flange,
  • Beam clamps can be used to hold the fabric in place on the beam flange,
  • Fabric can be installed directly to roof decking,
  • A high tensile cable is used to affix the draft curtain to an end wall

With thorough quality assurance, U.S. Smoke & Fire's fire curtains stand up to the toughest conditions. Once on-site, our installers will examine supports, blocking, inserts, clips, installation tolerances, clearances, and other conditions that impact the performance of a fixed smoke curtain. In addition, we also offer a mechanical inspections included in our annual preventative maintenance plans.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ):

Does the fabric come in various colors?

The fabric comes in gray only.

How do I know the drop height of the fixed fabric?

The drop height will be 1/9th of the ceiling to floor height. Thus, for example, if the warehouse ceiling is 36-feet in height, the calculation is 36/9 = 4 feet. The curtain height would be 4-feet.

How do you keep the curtain from swinging?

The fabric comes in 10-to-20-foot lengths mechanically fastened to structure at the top of the fabric with metal screws. The bottom of the fabric is held by aircraft cable that will be run through a sewn bottom pocket along the X-axis of the curtain and tied off to structure.

Would you demolish the existing fabric curtain?

Yes, we can provide pricing for that work.

Can the fabric be installed in arches, angles, triangles, curves as opposed to simply rectangles?

Of course, the fabric can be supplied in rolls, and the installer can cut the fabric and use it as an in-fill to any structure. The best method in our experience is to overlay a larger rectangle over the curve and cut the rectangle of unused fabric away or simply fold it back and double that area.
